IAS Media Release following the horrific Terror Attack in London, where we lost a fellow Canadian, Christine Archibald. Our thoughts and prayers
are with all the victims and their families.
The Islamic Association of Saskatchewan (Saskatoon) unequivocally condemns in the strongest possible terms the barbaric,
cowardly, and criminal attack in London on June 3, 2017, which left several people dead, including one Canadian, and injured many more.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the deceased, their families and loved ones who now mourn their loss, and all the survivors who are left
to deal with their suffering. We stand together in solidarity with all victims of terrorism wherever they may be and against those, without
exception, who carry out such despicable acts.
The Holy Qur'an, and the practice of our Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), expressly prohibits any killing of innocent people and attacks upon civilians.
Those who carry out such heinous crimes of terror do so with depraved indifference to our common humanity. Their odious actions are bereft of any
moral or religious justification whatsoever and contrary to the sacred teachings of Islam. Terrorists seek to cause death, suffering, hatred,
animosity, and division. Terrorists will fail. We stand in unity with all those who wish to make a better, inclusive, and more compassionate
and loving world where all humanity, in all of its diversity, may flourish through harmonious and peaceful relations based on mutual respect,
acceptance, and justice.
IAS Anti-Terror Statement
The Islamic Association of Saskatchewan (Saskatoon) Inc., upholding normative Islamic moral principles and spiritual precepts as
contained in both the Holy Qur’an and the Sunnah of the Prophet (Peace be Upon Him), unequivocally condemns terrorism and categorically
rejects violent extremism in all its forms, and those individuals or groups espousing violence to advance certain goals. Such indiscriminate
conduct, irrespective of those who commit violent acts of terror or those targeted by violent acts of terror, is contrary to the teachings of
Islam which uphold the sanctity of human life in all its diversity. Only principled actions based on justice, reconciliation, and peace can
bring about an end to terrorism and create the conditions for lasting, sustainable, and peaceful relations based on mutual respect and acceptance.
Following the recent rise in anti Semitic threats and acts on our Jewish friends in Toronto, and the desecration of a Jewish
cemetery in the US, the Saskatoon Muslim Community would like to extend our support to Congregation Agudas Israel and the Saskatoon
Jewish Community. Now, more than ever, we need to stand together, when hate seeks to divide...
